Springing Forward...

This is undoubtedly one of our (mine and Justin's) least favorite days of the year. You lose that hour while sleeping. And you wake up and there's less time in the day. You're already behind and you didn't even have a chance to get ahead cause a whole hour is gone. Poof.

So there's always those articles about what you do with that extra hour in the fall. But what do you do when you lose that hour.  Just stay in bed and call it a day? Watch basketball with baited breath hoping your team makes it past the bubble. Act like you don't know why you're late everywhere your supposed to be that day? Bask in that extra hour of sunlight (if it's not overcast out like it was in San Antonio today?)

Oddly enough I have been incredibly productive. Well for me. Especially for me on a Sunday.

  • We checked out the place at which we'd like to board Wookie! when we travel in the future.
  • I got laundry going. It's still going.
  • I grocery shopped.
  • We went to the gym.
  • I read a little (Eat, Pray, Love).
  • Took a nap.
  • Currently cooking my food for the upcoming week (Potential winners of the office's Biggest Loser competition have to make game plans you know.)
  • Watching Hitch on TBS right now.
  • And of course blogging. Which I hadn't done in a little longer than I'd like to admit. But you can see exactly how long it's been.

Now I need to go fold some laundry.  Just as soon as Hitch is over.

South Central Texas Snow Day

Those I know that blog and blogged about the snow day did it yesterday (here and here). I managed to post some pictures on Facebook and that was about it.  So I am going to talk about it now.

We woke up at about 7:15 (about 30 minutes earlier than we normally do) and from the bed could see the snow.  Justin got out of bed, grabbed the nice camera and Wookie! and went out.  I grabbed my phone camera and plopped down on a chair in the living room that offers a good view of the backyard (I did not feel the need to go out in it- I lived in Ohio until I was 8 and have done the whole walking to school in the snow thing).

Wookie!'s excitement was really unbelievable.  He loved it out there with the snow. He tried to eat some, but mostly was interested in playing and running around. Here are some of the best shots of Friday morning.
Our backyard after the snow and before Wookie! hit it.

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! (In my head Wookie! speaks in all caps like 99% of the time)

MY STICK FRIEND!

IT GOES EVERYWHERE WITH ME!

I"M COMING TO GET YOU!

First I must sniff this.

Oh yeah, I was COMING TO GET YOU!

Oh wait, what's this?

I'M A BLURRY BALL OF ENERGY!!!

The view from our front door.

The house from the street. Don't judge the Christmas lights. We do what we can.
We went to the dog park later in the day and we were not the only people who thought it might be good to finally get out there and let the animals run free.  Along the way though we did see enough abandoned cars to tell us what might have been had we tried to go to the office earlier in the day.  Yeah- we only got at most a 1/2" of snow, but what lay beneath was likely some ice that was way more treacherous.  I think our bosses made the right call in letting us stay home that day.

Walking Wookie!...

This dog loves a walk.  He will even sit when told to do so cause he knows we have to put that leash on him.  Of course the moment you go near he freaks out and puts his paw up, cause we smartly taught him how to high-five and give hand shakes, and the paw pushing on your arm can make things difficult.  But he's cute. So he's forgiven.

Upon exiting the house Wookie! jumps and grabs for the leash with his chompers.  He then pulls and tugs. He jumps some more. Once Wookie! settles in to the walk he likes to stay ahead.  If you move faster, he moves faster and this is usually the view.
Look at how high that tail is!

He does stop though.  Attempting to pick up bits of who-knows-what. Or to stop and smell the flowers.

Those are pretty flowers, but those people need to trim their trees, it's hard to see around them. Wait. When did I get old?

I'm not that old though, at the end of the walk, I'm still standing.

And Wookie! is pooped out.

Wookie! likes my baking...

He showed me this last night when he ate 3 1/2 of my Fiber One Banana Nut muffins . I bought the mix at the grocery store yesterday and baked them in the evening, leaving them on the counter to cool per the box instructions "cool completely before storing."  Little did I know that Wookie! (our cute teen puppy), who has never eaten anything off of a counter, would get the first crack at them.

We'd been hanging out in the living room all night and he beat me into the kitchen.  I don't know if time stood still. If he moved lightening fast (this is possible). If I moved very slowly (also possible).  I really don't know what happened, but by the time I got into the kitchen he was eating something off the floor.

I saw crumbs. He looked happy. Not the tiniest bit guilty.

I counted my muffins, one of which was missing a chunk. There were only 8 that were untouched. Apparently, the little (55 lb.) cutie had a nighttime treat that did not consist of lamb flavoring.

We'd heard a story from a friend about his dog and Grape Nuts.  It wasn't pretty. We aren't the kind to take chances.  Poor Wooks! had to sleep outside.

Now I know he has a baked goods tooth. I will have be more careful in the future if I want to enjoy more of these in mine.
It's a yummy afternoon treat!

Wookie! is our puppy...

And we love him dearly even though he wasn't this teeny tiny when we got him:
So cute and cuddly!
He was this big:
Twenty pounds tiny
He is now this big:
Fifty, yes fifty, pounds of pure teen puppy.
He is only 7 months old. He is sure to get bigger. That scares the crap out of me.

Have you any idea how much fur this short hair dog can produce?  In combination with our two kitties...

Turtle- she's an eight pound beauty who loves boxes and cuddling.
Timmy- he's sixteen pounds of "I'll take Wookie! on" kitty ego.
A lot of fur. We try (this term is used loosely) to be neat, but a tile floor does not hide fur.  I swept tonight and was tempted to take a picture. You should be glad I didn't.  I would't have posted a picture of the fur anyway because if you are our friend, or parent (Hi Mom!) you might never, ever set foot in our house again.  Let's just say that a call before dropping by is not just a courtesy, it's a necessity.
